First - Try a class for free
You don’t need any previous experience or skill. If you can comfortably climb a flight of stairs you are fit enough to practice. All you need are comfortable clothes like T-shirt and track pants, and a willingness to try something new and exciting. Aikido Auckland has a very welcoming atmosphere and everyone is keen to support new members.
Aikido classes are 90 minutes long and consist of basic weapons exercises, instruction in falling safely, body movement drills, and practice of techniques with a partner who can assist you when you are uncertain. Practice is not a competition. Partners work together, respecting each others skills and challenges, to grow in aikido.
The class ends with a breathing exercise and you will have an opportunity to talk with the teacher, ask questions, and decide on how to best get started in training at Aikido Auckland.

You may prefer to go straight into regular classes without attending a Beginners' Cycle. Many of our members start this way and progress very well. Joining straight away as a full member gives you the flexibility of attending any and all of the aikido classes on the timetable, including weapons classes, for your monthly fee. Because Aikido Auckland does not charge membership fees we do ask you to commit to two months of aikido pracitce by paying two months fees in advance.
