Assistant Instructors:

Rob Broadridge - 2nd Degree Aikikai

I started Aikido in 1998 after reading a book by Tony Buzan about brain development suggesting Aikido as a martial art with great benefits physically and mentally...  Since then most of my training has been with Roberts Sensei at Aikido Auckland Seishinkan. The challenge of continually improving physically and mentally through Aikido has kept me motivated.  My Aikido has continued to grow and change as Roberts Sensei's own Aikido has evolved.

Alicia Henry - 1st Degree Aikikai, Degree 1 Cheng Hsin

I first began aikido thinking it would be a little hobby to tide me over for a few months until cricket season began. That was back in 2004, and Im still here at Aikido Auckland enjoying every class I attend and the community within it - and no cricket pitches since! Aikido Auckland provided me an environment to stretch myself mentally and physically, to let go of all those things that I get hung up on, and gave me the confidence to try something new. The Chief Instructor - Alan Roberts Sensei - teaches how to effectively and honestly interact with others without compromising our integrity. There is alot of mind and body reconstruction and training to achieve this and the lessons learnt along the way are incredibly revealing. Our teacher leads by example and is an inspiration as he continually strives for something more innovative, effective and real. I still like cricket, but would miss the lessons in aikido too much to play.
